Brandon, Jeff, Matt and Matthew

Matthew Johnson – C0-Producer

Matthew grew up 40 miles northwest of Austin in Williamson County in the small town of Andice, TX.  Andice was also the home of the Jacobs brothers, who were famous throughout the county for there smoked sausage.  The Jacobs brothers eventually passed away, but will never forgotten by many, including Matthew.  To this day he can still recall the wonderful sights and smells that surrounded their smokehouse and enshrouded it in a cloud of mystery.  As an adult his ongoing quest for delicious BBQ is a passion he now shares with his two sons.

Jeff Jones – Co-Producer

Jeff was born in Greenville Texas but left when he was one year old.  There must be some Texas in his blood though because he has returned twice.  Currently in Austin Jeff is a theatrical sound design, teacher, audio engineer, radio producer, videographer, and all around nice guy. Although he has lived in Memphis and Chapel Hill he feels that he didn’t know what real BBQ was until he came back to Texas.  You can see more of his work at www.jeffreyalanjones.com

Brandon Gonzales – Co-Producer

Brandon moved to Austin, TX with his wife Juliana in early 2001. Growing up in Tucson, AZ, Brandon was exposed to the Sonoran Desert’s BBQ traditions which include rattlesnake, javelina and quail.  Professionally he is a studio and touring bassist and owner of Corona Cafe (Austin, TX).  Other “hats” known to be worn are as a carpenter and location audio for film/video. Foreseeable future project, “How I Became A Vegetarian”.

Matt Wallis – Co-Producer, Director of Photography

Matt is a Native Texan, devout Austinite and born-again meat eater. That’s right, he went wayward vegetarian for a few lost years. Matt is a videographer, editor, director, teacher, husband and father. Having eaten what he thinks is the best brisket around at the backyard BBQs of his close friends and family, he knows the hallowed pits of Central Texas are the final chapter in his omnivorous awakening. Mike Washlesky – Editor

Mike, originally from Dallas, found his way to Austin when he was 19. It was soon there after he decided eating spaghetti every night was becoming a bore, and has been a culinary adventurer ever since. Mike has been a filmmaker full time since 1999 in various roles including Director, Cinematographer, and Editor. Mike has a Mexican wife, a 5 year old daughter, a cat, a dog, and 3 grills. You can find him frequently tending the fire in his cabinet smoker and drinking beer when he’s not hunting wild game in West Texas. See his work at http://www.12gaugefilms.com
