Sunday’s Texas Monthly BBQ Festival was fantastic. Great to see old friends and meet new bbq masters. Special thank you to Cathy at Texas Monthly for helping us with the media passes and to everyone at Texas Monthly for throwing a great event.
We got a chance to meet Daniel from Full Custom Gospel BBQ as well a one of the donors to our Kickstarter page (which only has a couple days left so if you have a spare dollar or two…) Hung out with Gerald and crew from City Meat Market, John from Smitty’s, Kerry, Hershey, and Ms. Tootsie from Snows, Wayne from Muellers and a whole lot more. Met Sgt. Barbecue who started a bbq joint in Afghanistan. People came from all over. One guy had paid over $700 and flew in from Minnesota just to eat bbq.
We have set up a couple of follow up interviews with some folks from our first trip and are scheduling those soon. The film is coming together great.

BBQ Festival was amazing. My wife, father-in-law and I all had a blast. I enjoyed meeting you and your film crew as we dodged the “microburst” rain shower. Don’t forget to check with the Alamo Drafthouse guys if you’re looking into distribution possibilities. I would think that the League’s would get behind an idea as cool as this. Good luck with the film and don’t forget the BBQ scented scratch-and-sniff cards for promotion!
